Who we are

The Kettle Cafe was built on a simple idea: make good food from real ingredients, serve it fresh, and get people back to doing what they love. We're bringing that same spirit from Breckenridge to Alma — a community we've grown to love so much, we decided to put down roots in Fairplay.

After years in Breckenridge, we fell in love with the people, the pace, and the way a good meal can bring a community together. Relocating to Fairplay felt like the natural next step — a chance to bring something familiar and welcoming to a place that's already become home.

The cafe is the vision of Jamie Fletcher, owner and self-taught chef who moved from Philadelphia to Colorado in 2010. He spent a few years in Denver, bartending and working private chef gigs, before making his way to Breckenridge in 2016. Jamie briefly went to culinary school but quickly realized the traditional path wasn't for him. He stepped away to follow his own route, learning by doing, feeding real people, and figuring it out the hard way.

Like a lot of people who end up in the mountains, he started out sleeping in his car, riding when he could, and slowly building a life and community here.

Now Jamie and Erin are taking that same energy and love for community to Fairplay. Together, they're excited to create a space where locals and visitors alike can slow down, rush to the next adventure, eat well, and feel at home.

Jamie has put in over 25 years in the service industry. He knew what worked, what didn't, and what kind of food people actually want after a long day outside. That shows up in the menu: fresh food that is fast, filling, and full of flavor.

We've got options for everyone: vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, all without cutting corners or sacrificing taste. Just real food that makes you feel good.

And if you're wondering what the Philly connection brings to a little mountain town cafe, well, don't be surprised if you see a breakfast jawn on the specials board. It's all the food you want with a little Philly attitude you didn't know you needed.

Whether you're a local or just passing through, we're glad you found us.
